If you’re a parent of a child who is in mainstream school, it’s surprisingly easy to deregister them. All that needs to be done is sending the headmaster or principal an email stating your intent on home educating and they will notify local authorities for you with no need for permission from anyone else beforehand.
You can use this letter of deregistration as a template. Simply email it to your headteacher and also print it out and post it to ensure they receive it.
